Are you traveling to Kaohsiung soon and wondering where to stay? As the largest city in southern Taiwan, Kaohsiung is a vibrant metropolis made up of 38 unique districts, each with its own charm. Despite its size, the city has a laid-back atmosphere that makes it easy to explore from one district to another, especially with its efficient public transportation system.
Among these districts, Xinxing, Cianjin, and Yancheng stand out for their central location and proximity to Kaohsiung’s major attractions. To help you avoid feeling overwhelmed by too many options, I’ve narrowed it down to these three areas. So if you’re planning a trip to Kaohsiung and looking for the best area and hotel to stay in, this guide is for you.
Yancheng District
Yancheng District is one of the best areas to stay in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It’s easily accessible from Kaohsiung International Airport and other major attractions in the city. It’s just two stations away from Formosa Boulevard Station, one of the main transit hubs in the city. Just make sure to choose a hotel within walking distance of Yanchengpu MRT Station.
Tenz Go Hotel – ★★★★
During our 3-day trip to Kaohsiung, Taiwan, I booked a stay at Tenz Go Hotel. It’s a short walk from Yanchengpu MRT Station and the vibrant Pier-2 Art Center. Aside from being close to tourist spots, there are also plenty of local shops and convenience stores nearby. This four-star hotel offers great amenities and is located in a prime area. While it’s not exactly a budget hotel, you can take advantage of discounts through platforms like Agoda.

That said, I booked our room through Agoda, my preferred platform for booking hotels. I reserved a twin room that included free breakfast. The hotel has a spacious lobby with a modern and stylish design. It has a play area for kids as well, perfect for guests with little ones.

Food Finds Worth Trying:
If you’re looking for a quick snack while walking near the hotel, try the grilled mochi in this shop—the name is in Chinese but you can easily spot it going to & from Yangchengpu MRT station.

If you’re like me and obsessed with soufflé pancakes, check out Liusheng Tea near the entrance of Yanchengpu MRT Station.

They serve some of the fluffiest pancakes I’ve tried—and they taste really good! They also pair well with their milk tea.
Both this and the grilled mochi shop are within walking distance of Tenz Go Hotel or the Yangchengpu MRT station.
Kaohsiung International Airport to Tenz Go Hotel: Take the MRT to Formosa Boulevard Station, then transfer to the Orange Line and get off at Yanchengpu Station. Follow the exit signs and walk to the hotel using Google Maps.
Tenz Go Hotel to Cijin Island: The ferry terminal to Cijin Island is located near Hamasen Station, which is on the same line as Yanchengpu Station. Get off at Hamasen Station and walk to Gushan Ferry Pier, where you can take a boat to Cijin Island.
If you prefer a different accommodation but still want to stay within Yancheng District, there are other options available. Just make sure to filter your search by ‘Yancheng District’ when looking for hotels on Agoda or your preferred booking platform.
Sinsing (Xinxing) District
Sinsing District is in the central area of Kaohsiung City and is where Formosa Boulevard Station is located. The station is not only a key transport hub but also home to the famous Dome of Light. It’s directly connected to Kaohsiung International Airport, making it incredibly convenient to travel between the airport, your hotel, and other popular spots.
Brio Hotel – ★★★★
Brio Hotel features a modern and elegant design, with artistic accents throughout the property. It was my first choice when I was searching for a place to stay in Kaohsiung, based on the available hotels in Sinsing District for our travel dates. It’s also within walking distance of Formosa Blvd. Station and other popular places to visit in Kaohsiung.

Cianjin District
Cianjin District is another centrally located area in Kaohsiung, situated next to Sinsing District. Cianjin MRT Station sits between Formosa Boulevard and Yanchengpu Stations on the Orange Line. It’s a great alternative for staying in Kaohsiung if you’re looking for more affordable options while still being close to major areas.
Inns Hotel – ★★★
Inns Hotel has a boutique vibe with a warm yet sophisticated design. Considering its location and overall aesthetic, it offers great value for money. I would’ve booked a stay at Inns Hotel if I had thought to expand my hotel search to the Cianjin District. I’m planning to stay at Inns Hotel on my next trip to Kaohsiung.
